Sports, concerts, history, family-friendly activities, KC has it all! There is so much to do here, you have a TON of options for your weekend trip. I narrowed it down to my favorites and some KC staples you have to experience at least once when you visit.
Go to a Royals or Chiefs game
If you have the time and haven’t experienced Arrowhead or Kauffman Stadium you need to add this to your trip! These stadiums are like no other, I mean Arrowhead is the loudest stadium in the world! If you can’t make it to a game you can still get inside the fan shops, or walk around and see a little bit of the team’s history displayed outside the stadium. They are right across the parking lot from each other so you can experience both of KC’s pride and joys all in one visit.
Kansas City Zoo
6800 Zoo Dr. Kansas City, MO 64132
Sea lion shows, a brand new sloth exhibit, the cutest dang baby otters and giraffes!! I could go on for days and even walk around the park for days for that matter. See as many exhibits as you can and catch a show or two while you’re visiting. This is one of my favorite zoos ever!
Shop on the Country Club Plaza
4706 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64112
The hub for all the best shopping and restaurants! You can easily spend an entire day walking around the area, taking in the historic views, and eating some amazing food.
Grab a BIRD and ride around downtown
One of my favorite things to do on a nice day! If you haven’t been to a city that has Birds (electric scooters) now is your chance! You can ride all over the downtown area and make your own personal tour of the city.
City Market
20 E. 5th Street, Kansas City, MO 64105
If you’re in the city on a Saturday morning this is a must! Take in the culture, try new food, grab some gorgeous flowers, and meet some of the amazing local vendors. During the summer there is live music and an extensive calendar of events.
SeaLife
2475 Grand Boulevard. Kansas City, Missouri 64108
KC’s indoor aquarium, perfect for the family and kids who don’t want to be out in the heat all day. There is so much to offer (including the amazing giant fish tank), that it will leave everyone in the family happy. This place may just become a must for every future KC visit.

KC Staples
Crown Center
2405 Grand Blvd. Ste 200. Kansas City, MO 64108
One of my favorite places to visit in KC, especially during Christmas!! Crown Center has locally owned stores, food, the best interactive restaurant (Fritz’s), and so much more! Check out their events calendar while you’re in KC to see what unique events you can catch during your trip.
0 West Pershing Road. Kansas City, MO 64108
Another one of my favorites! Of course, the main attraction is the train station; if you have the time to take a quick ride around the city I highly recommend it! Union Station houses a new exhibit every few weeks from the mummy museum to dinosaurs, Stonehenge, and so much more so be sure to check the website before you visit! You can also catch a movie in the IMAX theater, sit down for lunch and listen to live music, or take your kids over to Science City.
National WWI Museum and Memorial
2 Memorial Dr, Kansas City, MO 64108
4525 Oak Street. Kansas City, MO 64111
For the big kids
Boulevard Brewing Company
2501 Southwest Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108
KC’s most famous local brewing company. You can hang out in the beer hall with your friends, grab a flight of local brews, play games, and enjoy the gorgeous view of the city. If you’re a first timer, it’s a must to do one of the brewery tours. You will learn all about the brewing process and yes even get some free beer along the way!
Head down to Westport, Power and Light District (P&L)
Hit up the bars, get some good food, listen to live bands, and enjoy the KC nightlife. So much fun for a weekend with friends!!
The College Basketball Experience
1401 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64106
In the heart of downtown and right across the street from P&L. You can visit the College Hall of Fame, practice and play hoops at the training station, and even become a sportscaster. This place is so fun for all ages and the perfect day activity for people who want to enjoy the nightlife across the street afterward!
For the kiddos (or the kids at heart)
2475 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108
So much fun for the kids, and sometimes even the adults! 4D movie theater, rides for the family, a giant Lego studio, character meet and greets…you can spend an entire day adventuring with the family here. Head across the sky-bridge to Crown Center for food and more fun after!
Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun
