When we sat down and made a list of our most important vendors, flowers were at the very top of my list!! I wanted it to rain flowers at our wedding if possible (lol). My vision was to have something romantic, elegant, and with a touch of fall! For those in the Kansas City area, we used Wild Hill Flowers and Events. I could not recommend them more! Jenni and her team were beyond incredible to work with, they went above and beyond with my vision AND helped us achieve everything we wanted within our budget!
Most people see large dollar signs when they think of wedding flowers, as did I! BUT, it is possible to make your pinterest board come to life without busting your budget, and i’m going to tell you how!
Ok, now let’s get to the good stuff!
Flowers used:
colored carnations, bleached ruscus, astilbe, rice flower, toffee rose, white hydrangeas, white orchids, queen anne’s lace, quicksand rose, baby’s breath.

Ways to Save $$!
REPURPOSE EVERYTHING!
One of the best and easiest ways we saved money was by repurposing everything from our ceremony to our reception space! For example, our aisle flowers were used as centerpieces for the guest tables, and our altar flowers were repurposed to our head table, seating chart, and bar! Ask your florist what options they have for this or ideas to get the most out of your florals! Make sure to ask if there are any additional fees for flipping the space too.
Ask for budget friendly alternatives.
You would be surprised at how easy it is to swap out expensive flowers for more affordable options without compromising your vision. I wanted big full bouquets throughout the space, we used baby’s breath to fulfill my vision but keep it within budget!
Optimize the use of any $$ flowers!
If there is a flower you absolutely love but it’s too expensive to put everywhere, include it in the places most important to you! I really wanted orchids throughout my flowers but they are one of the pricier choices (of course, lol) so we only put one in my bridal bouquet and a few in the larger centerpieces!
Go for green!
Greenery is a great, cost-effective choice to fill so much space! It’s also a great option where you want flowers to cascade down (see my champagne shelves above!)
Rent through your florist!
This one won’t necessarily help you save in the florals category, but it could help decrease the expensive rental company bill! We rented our candles, candle votives, and other glassware for our guest tables through our florist. Wild Hill had better options that were more affordable for us, and it made pick-up easier at the end of the night!
OTHER TIPS:
- Be mindful when you’re looking at flowers; there’s A LOT that goes into a quote- what you could get for, say, $5k in Kansas City is WAY different than what you could get for $5k in another city! The time of year and demand of weddings can also have an impact. Look for inspo, not budget!
- Make a Pinterest board & share it with your florist! Most will ask for this but if not, make sure you give it to them so they know your exact vision!
- Don’t forget to think about the details that go with the flowers- like the ribbon for the bouquets!
